  COMMUNICATION OF RESULTS

The principal investigator and the co-investigator will communicate research results through scholarly publications in the areas of psychology and education. Results may also be published in interdisciplinary journals such as JOURNAL OF SOCIAL AND PERSONAL RELATIONS, JOURNAL OF MARRIAGE AND THE FAMILY, VIOLENCE AND VICTIMS, and WOMEN'S EDUCATION DES FEMMES. Beginning after year 1, papers will also be presented as scholarly conferences, such as the Annual Convention of the Canadian Psychological Association.

Results of the research will be communicated to the participating students and their parents by way of short classroom presentations, presentations to the parent-teacher associations, and a written report distributed to the schools and provided to the divisional resource centre. All research partners will receive an annual interim report and a final report at the end of the project. The results of this project are expected to be helpful to Culture, Heritage and Citizenship Manitoba in extending programs such as the Multicultural Partner Abuse Prevention Program to include earlier primary prevention efforts. It is anticipated that Men For Change will circulate the results of the research through their network, especially to potential users of the "Healthy Relationships" program.

Besides our report to Culture, Heritage and Citizenship Manitoba, we will make our report available to other provincial and federal government departments (e.g., provincial Status of Women Offices, Health Canada, Department of Canadian Heritage) with an executive summary highlighting the potential relevance of the results for policy and programming.

Use will also be made of the extensive communication network at the Manitoba Research Centre on Family Violence and Violence Against Women. This includes a Centre newsletter, reports sent to the other four national Centres on Family Violence and Violence Against Women, and maintaining copies of the school report and all scholarly publications in the Centre's library.
